Salivary diagnosis of oral cancers by salivary samples: a systematic literature review

چکیده

The aim of this article is to carry out a systematic analysis the literature concerning diagnosis oral cancers by salivary samples. Different biomarkers, produced tumor itself or its environment, show significant variations in their concentration at level, correlated not blood tissue level. After studying 239 articles, we included 36 analysis. This allowed us extract 46 potential molecules for diagnostics. Only 26 demonstrated good level evidence. 8 clusters have also been proposed better specificity and sensitivity. To date, protocols studies carried do allow affirm that one more biomarkers are effective cancers. Part results contradict sometimes lack precision. In addition, here methodological quality always take into account other factors influencing concentrations (systemic diseases, age, sex, tobacco, alcohol, etc .). Additional still necessary, notably with larger groups patients, representative general population standardization study quantification biomarkers.

Clinical Significance of Salivary Biomarkers in Oral Squamous Cell Carcinoma: A Review

Background and Aim: Oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) accounts for approximately 3% of all cancers worldwide, and if diagnosed early, it has a five-year survival rate of around 85%; however, a late diagnosis may decrease the survival rate to 50%. Aberrant expression of several genes is associated with the hallmarks of OSCC including uncontrolled cell proliferation, poor differentiation, invas...

A Review of Signet Ring cells in Salivary Gland Tumors

Objectives: Signet Ring Cells (SRCs) are often seen in gastrointestinal, breast, bile duct and lung invasive carcinomas. Observing these cells in benign and malignant lesions of the salivary glands is not common. Signet-ring cell adenocarcinoma is rare and is commonly seen in the secondary salivary glands. Although, the presence of SRCs in other neoplasms of the body is usually associated with ...

A Review of Salivary Biomarker: A Tool for Early Oral Cancer Diagnosis

The oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) is one of the most common epithelial malignancies with significant morbidity and mortality. Recent observations indicate that the clinical and histological appearance of oral mucosa may not truly depict the damage occurring at the genetic level. This phenotypic and genotypic disparity may account in part for the failure to establish effective screening an...

A systematic review of methods to diagnose oral dryness and salivary gland function

BACKGROUND The most advocated clinical method for diagnosing salivary dysfunction is to quantitate unstimulated and stimulated whole saliva (sialometry). Since there is an expected and wide variation in salivary flow rates among individuals, the assessment of dysfunction can be difficult. The aim of this systematic review is to evaluate the quality of the evidence for the efficacy of diagnostic...

Acinic cell carcinoma of the salivary glands: a literature review.

Acinic cell carcinoma (ACC) is a low-grade malignant salivary neoplasm that constitutes approximately 17% of primary salivary gland malignancies. In the head and neck region, the parotid gland is the predominant site of origin and women are usually more frequently diagnosed than men. Previous radiation exposure and familial predisposition are some of the risk factors for ACC. A slowly enlarging...
